Meet the Owner/Director

Vanette Gladney Erwin - Owner/Primary Caregiver

I moved to Houston in 2020, with my 3 sons from Las Vegas, NV with a plan to do great things and provide resources to families. Over the next few years, I achieved an MBA and decided to open Small People Child Development Center. After over 15 years of working with many families as a family advocate and early education teacher, I had to get back to the excitement and challenges of the unknown that I enjoy. 

Small People was inspired by the (original) Small People Christian Home Center in my hometown, Los Angeles, that I began working at during my senior year in high school. Ever since I have had an enjoyable and rewarding experience working with the diverse families of the local communities I serve. I focus on practical, appropriate, inclusive, play-based learning philosophies that respect the individual rates of our children's growth and development.
